I keep catching these up north in my minnow trap and haven't been able to figure out what they are, They're found in still, marshy, but relatively clear water... i'm pretty sure they're some kind of shiner or minnow rather than a dace, chub, or stickleback, anyone good at this have any idea?

If I were to guess..... I'd say Brassy minnows.. Your catch location seems to match their habitat, and well they look pretty brassy lol

That was actually one of my guesses, its hard to tell in the pic but they did have a distinctive "brassy" colouring all along the side, thanks!

Aside from just the Brassy color, this fish does have the characteristics of a Brassy Minnow, so I'm gonna agree with Drop_Shot.

any input/confirmation is appreciated, I'm gonna have another one for you guys in a few weeks, another thing I can add is they seem to be fairly hardy/tough to kill, haven't used them yet
