Hello everyone,

Just wanted to get some feedback on purchasing a centre pin for my new rod. I have just purchased a custom rainshadow 13' and a Frontier 15' float rods, and wanted to pair either of them with a new centrepin. It sure appears if someone is sick lol, but I managed to get these rods at a really decent price. Right now Ive been fishing with the Okuma Aventa for the last 3 years, and really think these reels are a good bang for there buck. Righttt now I am looking at the Okuma Raw 2, but want a reel that has some really good pick up, and is relatively light (if im gonna put it on the 15'). I am willing to spend from 250 to 350 taxes in. Ive looked on Kijiji, with little difference between new and used. And I cannot really justify a pricey Kingpin when the Aventa has exceeded my expectations for a third of the money.

Thanks

You'll love the rainshadow. Is it the XST 1562?

Best bang for your buck would probably be an islander. Work horses, never heard anything bad about them.

I have a few center pin reels. The only one that gets any use is my islander IS. Little to no maintenance performed, and it's always ready to go.
The reel itself is really light the start up on it is better than the other reels I used to fish with. Another bonus is that it's made in Canada. For your price range I don't think there is a better reel available.

Thanks for the advice guys. I made an impulsive purchase today at the local crack shack and went with the islander. I read some reviews and none had anything bad to say. Hope to hook into something on the pin, kind of forget what it feels like as Ive been getting them on the hardware lately. And yes CJ, I have the rainshadow XST 1562, such a great blank, I have no complaints. It is one heck of an upgrade from the Okuma Aventa rod I had. No more running after these fish!
