Hi Guys,
I've spent hours last night looking at the reg's for zone 16 for salmon/trout which mostly closed on sept 30th, but there are some extended areas.

My issue is I can't figure out if the Ausable river, starting from a point on Sylvan rd/ Fossil Rd near Arkona heading towards Grand Bend at Lake Huron is open or not or if it is a part of the extended season.
Its tributary i can't quite sort out as there seems to be variation on information and even maps out there and the mnr site doesn't list Ausable river, just Maitland tributaries and other tribs listed..

so im confused and would love some help from some of the vets out there or someone more knowledgable for this area as this is only my 2nd year fishing in sw ontario. my next step is to call the ministry but i thought i'd try this first.

Want to do some float fishing for trout/salmon this sunday but only if its legal.

ANY help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

-John

that is my guess is well but i was hoping to find a open spot for october.
i'm looking into the huron trib mouths, either the ausable river one, bayfield mouth or maitland area..
any good suggestions for this sunday are welcome as i want to make a day of it and want to catch my 1st salmon. willing to drive a few hours to make er happen, i live in strathroy so im open to any suggestions via reply or pm.

thanks again guys, i really mean it.

If it's not mentioned in the reg. there's a big chance it's considered a sanctuary and is not open for fishing. Even though they don't put "no fishing" signs around.

ok little update and maybe this thread can be closed... i forgot there were detail sub-maps for 13 and 16 visually showing the boundaries for some of the tribs and what point the mouths turn into the trib....
feel kinda stupid but maybe part of it was my late night trying to figure out where to catch salmon now that its october legally.

Trib usually starts at the first bridge/roadway from the lake. For most huron tribs it is hwy 21 i think.(unless listed exceptions)

After the rain tonight ther should b fish moving in.

i think there might be a confusion one what is a 'trib'. i think for this thread 'trib' would be considered the feeder creeks, not the main branches.

no rain will Wednesday :( but it is 3 days worth and cooler temps. just what we need for the river to fill and flip :)

for those that like to use worms; get ready. there will be a night in the next week or so during a light rain when the worms will be everywhere on the sidewalks. with a kitchen spatula and a bucket, you can harvest enough worms to last until your fished out for the season. the best part? perfect sized trout worms and not night crawlers.
