Went to Drift Outfitters and got all set up. This was my oldest son son graduation present. We've all tied our first flies. Fun, frustrating but looking forward to catching on my first tied fly.

big, start shopping for bulk hooks. togenenterprise sell about $8 / 100 hooks . if you're willing to wait, then aliexpress would be your best bet.

those long haired buggers work well in the fall, hell of a lot better than my first ever. keep practicing, and don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone.

Mustads aren't much more expensive than that. Don't cheap out on a couple dollars for hooks after spending hundreds on fishing gear, when the hook is the business end of the system

Here is my collection so far. And a few of them look pretty fishy. Will be cool to see if any of them produce a hit. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I'm impressed.
Look great to me.
Don't forget chartreuse.
Salmon love that colour.

The one colour I haven't bough yet. chartreuse not sure how I let that slip by. Oh wait it's the almost $800 I've spent this weekend. So much for saving money. Hahahaha Right now each fly would cost $10.61 each.

Ha ha.
Sorry
Meant no slight.
Especially with myself always complaining about cost of things.

make a list of the flies you want to tie, and only buy materials for those flies, then next pay, make another list, and buy only materials for that list, soon, you'll have a big collection of materials and a big stock pile of flies. just remember, you don't need the exact material listed, there are substitutes that can be made.
