I moved form BC not long ago and brought my small bass boat with with me. Used to fish on the east side of Vancouver Island mostly, before I fished I used to put in my crab and Prawn traps, then you are guaranteed to get something tasty.

Originally form England 20 years ago and soon to be retiring from the Canadian Forces. I used to love fishing in England mostly with floats (bobbers), My brother came out last year and we did a 7 day canoe trip in 5 days in Killarney park, the fishing was great, used a small spinner..... hopefully plan on going back this year but less portaging and more fishing.

Yay...Welcome Seatux. And Welcome to Ontario, I think you will find the fishing absolutely world class here. Camping is also a passion of mine, We try and get out acouple of times atleast a year. Enjoy the forum!

Welcome to Toronto and also to the Board, seatux. I just read thru your previous post and am glad you showed understanding & maturity in responding to the criticism. I'm new to this board as well, but I totally understand the reaction you got. Good you didn't take it to heart.
Looks like you have quite a bit of fishing experience. And canoeing in Killarney must have been awesome! I did a canoe/kayak trip with my son last summer on the French River & we both loved it. We're trying to put together a plan for Killarney this summer - maybe we could exchange notes (if it's okay with you, of course!). Do you have any experience with carp fishing? If you have, and wish to go carping, do let me know.

Any help I can be with your Killarney Park canoe trip....... feel free to ask, as we did a big circle route and covered a lot of the lakes and most miserable and steepest portages there. I have the latest route book and a good topo map of the area.

I am up for some Carp fishing, not an expert though but have done a fair bit before moving to Canada.

Hi seatux. Thanks for your offer to help with planning the Killarney canoe trip. I would definitely welcome some first-hand info on routes & some advice. I'm yet to pick up a map, but I have browsed through one at the MEC recently. We're looking at a 5-day trip with or without potages (I'll have two strapping young lads eager to take on the hard work work with me), around late August/early September. If you ever feel up to talking about your trip, I'd be glad to get together with you over a coffee (or even a fishing rod).

As for carp fishing, I've never tried it before, but am very eager to try it as soon as carp season opens next month. I also know a spot or two around here & would be willing to try the spots mentioned above by a board member.

PM sent...

Hey seatux..sorry I missed your initial postings.

You may not have recieved a warm welcome; and we apologize for that. Some time messages via the computer can be misconstrued.
Now dont get me wrong, this board is all about sharing info on new and unknown fishing locations, But it is a VERY give and take enviroment. There is a definate need to protect these little ponds we chart, as well as the great fishing locations we all know about.
Because this site is specialized in non-traditional fishing locations, "we" the members are fairly secretive about them, especially when they are in our own backyards!

Sometimes we forget that "you have to start somewhere" and being new to the country, thats exactly what you did.

Regardless, Welcome aboard.

Have a look through the site, you will find the "rules" we try to follow, asl well as lots of great fishing info.

Tight Lines.

Disspatcher.
