Hi
I am an avid fisher -- 39 years now  I am not a keeper of my catches; most of the time I prefer to admire, take a pic or two and release to catch again next year !!
We have a wide variety of species of fish to entertain your worms and jigs all day in the waters where I live - large & smallies, pickerel, muskie, pike, catfish, trout and your assortment of pain in the butt sunfish, goby and apparently dogfish!
Fishing has been brilliant this year, the fish are healthy :D
Nice meeting you,
Leslie

Sounds like a blast! Its awesome having all of those species to target!

It is awesome - you would think after all these years I would be better at hooking the little devils .. but no, I spend most of my days feeding the fish so they get bigger for everyone else to catch !!

I use mostly dancing worms but will sometimes thro a gulp or red devil to entice whatever swims by !

Hmm never tried dancing worms before. For plastics i mostly use 4.5" yum tubes...they work awesome. We throw all kinds of baits depending on the day and the target species. Some days big crankbaits are the ticket for northern pike, some days plastics will get 'em and cranks nothing. Thats what makes it such a challenge and so fun!!

Ah..northern pike, I have never been lucky enough to experience that fight but I finally did get to witness one this summer in Honey Harbour but the big guy spat the bait out right at the dock !! With having access to mostly shore fishing, I will take what swims by and feels like eating what I am offering, I don't really know how to target a species unless fishing a stream and I can see 'em :)

Ahh no boat...thats tough. Fishing off shore is definitely more difficult for all species most of the time. We get them all the time in honey harb, midland harbour, hoggs bay, sturgeon bay in my buddies boat. Try throwing big lures on steel leaders like rapala magnums, 3 1/2" spoons, 3/4oz spinnerbaits, large mepps #5 and you'll hit pike for sure! Theres a bunch of topics where myself and others delve into techniques for using different lures for northerns.

Great to have yeah on board. Your not alone in never catching a pike...i've only caught small small bass, sunfish, n a sheephead in florida when i was like 5 lol.

Why thank you, of course, I had selected these beauties to mow down on my wormie LOL!! This has actually been one of my best years fishing and I have only been out on a boat once!!

It is funny but when I am reeling in that big one ... and it dances across the water .. I am still amazed that it is on MY LINE !!

I am eager to see what tonight brings ... might check out the shores of Honey Harbour tomorrow !!

have fun fishing

Ahh yeah!! I just remembered a spot where you can go and catch pike off shore fairly consistantly in the early summer thats really close to you. Send me a pm and i'll give you some details. You might be able to pick up some in the fall in this spot too.(never tried, but i am sure you could once the weeds die down a bit)
