Hey guys,

Picked up one of these the other day:

I'm sure a lot of people have heard of these or used this, and yes you can simply use a Y-shaped stick in place of one of these, but I thought I'd recommend one for anyone who likes still-fishing. It's called a Fishin' Stick (Stix). I had one of the spiral-type rod holders and found that it was too cumbersome to take my rod out of those rod holders while I was getting hits. With this Y-shaped rod holder, you can just lift straight up. It's telescopic and compact. It's not going to resist a hard strike from a huge fish but for basic fishing I found it to be great. $6.99 well spent IMO!

Cool. I grew up watching my dad using that rod holder. He'd always use a 12+' float rod (no reel. Fixed line) from the bank for carp and panfish...

Personally I'm happy with the spiral holder.
