Hot Summer Fishing

Hey guys, haven't fished in 2 weeks due to a busy schedule/uncooperative weather. But it looks like it'll be 30degrees and sunny tomorrow (feels like 36 according to theweathernetwork). I'm wondering if it's even worth baking in the sun for a possible bite. I imagine fishes aren't as active during the hot summer days. But, I don't exactly want to stay indoors all summer either...

They're active on hot days like today. Just don't limit yourself to the middle of the day. As always, morning and evening will tend to be better. The hottest part of the day will be slower.

This past weekend was out early in the mornng and didnt catch any walleye but when we went out later in mid morning to afternoon, we caught a total of 3. So middle of day can be quite good or better.

Understanding barometric pressure or temp changes will help our catching success. Cold blooded creature such as a fish will eventually adapt to most warm weather condition as long as there are no extreme temp change within a few days span.

Fishing the river system is quite different from fishing on a lake, fish will be less susceptible to barometric pressure changes on a river, however, change in current flow do affect their feeding habits or activity.

Gar should be finished their spawn soon and will be active in the summer heat.

Went out last week for Gar... spotted a bunch but they weren't feeding.

Gar as in the fish on river monsters? I did not think gar are this far north.
