hey guys im just wondering because i catch alot of little largemouth bass in these ponds so im just wondering how they get there if anyone knows thx...IMG_4816.PNGIMG_4663.PNGIMG_4537.JPG the big one was caught at g ross lord reservoir and the others at marita payne pond

During the spawn, when fertilized Bass eggs are layed into weeds ducks and geese occasionally pick them up with their webbed feet when swimming by. When moving from pond to pond or lake to pond ect.. some of these eggs fall off of the feet leaving a fertilized egg in a new or different body of water, these eggs will hatch and begin a new population or contribute to an already populated body of water.

It can be that theory above or in some cases people will stock these ponds which IS illegal but some people don't know or don't care, this can cause a great concern because sometimes you never know if the fish is invasive or not.

I'm normally against law-breaking, but I have no problem if someone wants to stock a native species. Just do it in the right order - don't put the pike in there first! ;) But the ministry really should be stocking them, having a good amount of biodiversity might clean up the water quicker, and create recreational fishing opportunities for people in the area.
