Hello you pond fishing maniacs.

I have a question...

How long before hooked, caught & released bass bite again?

I remember reading somewhere long time ago that... usually that same bass won't bite for few days? Is that true?

I am sure not all bass will act the same but I am guessing bass would play safe until it hooked mouth get healed?

I would appreciate your scientific answers.

Thank you.

i can say for sure that i've caught bass that had mouths/jaws with visible signs of being hooked before. wounds look fresh too. therefore, they definitely don't need to heal up completely in order to feed again. I think hunger eventually takes over and fish will forget about being caught and taken out of the water.

bass could hit another lure rite away. fish can and do get wise to seeing the same lure over and over and sometimes won;t it that. but, i used to have a small pool in my backyard... i;m talkin, a 5' diameter kiddie pool, maybe 1.5-2 feet deep. i had caught a 1.5lb LM and put him in the pool, he lived in there over 2 weeks. i actually used to sit out side, and throw different lures in there and he would hit them one after another. it did seem to hit the imitation baitfish more though, small perch and shiner patterns. so, they can hit a lure minutes after gettin back in the water. but, all fish are different, some are smarter then others.

My son caught a good bass in Bronte harbor on a live worm and caught the same bass with a minnow about 20 minutes later.
