How many? How did you do it? How much did it cost?
I've only done it once. Was using my favourite retractable, which I got for 10 bucks, and I wound up for the cast but forgot I had another behind me in the rod holder and whacked it. Broke in half. I was so pissed at myself, especially because I got skunked that day.
Also seen KVD on a show one time fishing for peacocks in Brazil where him and his buddy kept snapping their $500 rods or whatever multiple times on some beasts they were pulling out.
Here are some pics of my friends' snapped rods:
Believe it or not, this cat did it. Perhaps the rod already had damage on it from a car door or something.
This was my rod. I lent it to my friend. He hooked his first ever pike. Since he wasn't experienced he didn't know how hard to reel in. Pike started to go under the boat and I said "Don't let him go under the boat!" and so he horsed it up and snapped the rod.
This is the culprit:
Was casting out and heard a sound as a swung forward. I was like "what was that?". So I reeled in and saw the ribbon tail gone.
Had a look to see what I hit. Turns out a I nicked the motor. Was so very close to breaking off the rod tip.
It was my first time using these new soft plastics I had just bought so I didn't wanna throw it away. So I kept casting it and it paid off with this guy.
