How many? How did you do it? How much did it cost?

I've only done it once. Was using my favourite retractable, which I got for 10 bucks, and I wound up for the cast but forgot I had another behind me in the rod holder and whacked it. Broke in half. I was so pissed at myself, especially because I got skunked that day.

Also seen KVD on a show one time fishing for peacocks in Brazil where him and his buddy kept snapping their $500 rods or whatever multiple times on some beasts they were pulling out.

Here are some pics of my friends' snapped rods:

Believe it or not, this cat did it. Perhaps the rod already had damage on it from a car door or something.

This was my rod. I lent it to my friend. He hooked his first ever pike. Since he wasn't experienced he didn't know how hard to reel in. Pike started to go under the boat and I said "Don't let him go under the boat!" and so he horsed it up and snapped the rod.

This is the culprit:

Was casting out and heard a sound as a swung forward. I was like "what was that?". So I reeled in and saw the ribbon tail gone.

Had a look to see what I hit. Turns out a I nicked the motor. Was so very close to breaking off the rod tip.

It was my first time using these new soft plastics I had just bought so I didn't wanna throw it away. So I kept casting it and it paid off with this guy.

Technically none, but my buddy did break one of my rods, by shutting the car door on it. Thankfully it wasn't super expensive, a 50 dollar fenwick eagle gt ultra light. Loved that rod so i picked up a new one the next day

Three...

1) Third year fishing and I just got an UL rod for sunfish and perch. First time out with the rod and I hooked a lily pad. I tried to pull the hook free...SNAP! Never again have I used my rod to free a snag...only use my hands now to pull hooks free or to snap the line.

2) A few years ago, I was fishing for salmon on the fly rod. Trying to land a salmon alone on a 10-wt, I high sticked it too much and snap the tip. No issue though...the rod had No-Fault Lifetime Warranty. Sent it back for $40 and I got a new $250 replacement.

3) Just a few weeks ago I was chucking spoons for rivermouth salmon. As we were trying to net my 20lb salmon, it tore a hole through the net. My rod tip was dragged into the net mesh as the salmon drove straight down. I couldn't free the tip...SNAP! No issue...that rod had a 5-year Limited Warranty and I just receive a new replacement rod.

Been fishing for 20 years and only snapped 3 rods...not too bad.

I've broke 6 rods ... Fishing under trees and breaking off to have the quantum noodle rod tip go around a branch , firs trip with my raven set it up at the car and hit a tree on the pall down the trail and exploded the tip section and some spinning rods

Never broke a rod, though I know it will happen one day. Nice photos.
Thx. As long as the fish you're pulling in is big then you won't even care when you do snap the rod.

1, a fenwick, i snagged on a log, and i guess i thought it was a fish, cause i set the hook like kvd

I broke 3, 1 from car buddy sit on it, 1 from car door, 1 from big turtle stucked on lilly pads.

Don't know how many SNAPS I counted at the Ganny this fall. Everytime I heard it I looked up and a huge smile came across my face... one less loogan gankin salmons in the way.

3 if I recall correctly.

First was a crappy CT rod when I was a kid, snapped it when trying to get out a snag.

Second was a browning 6 rivers float rod, snapped the tip off a tree.

Third was a raven IM8, buddy stepped on it and the next time I casted the tip section snapped in half.

Never broken a rod out of missuse. Had one break on a sturgeon, Wasn't fishing for them, just happened to hook one and was not using the proper rod.

Ive had friends break many. One friend decided it would be funny to poke my sister in law in the butt with his rod. Guess it wasn't so funny when he broke 6" off the tip. Same friend casting into a concrete tunnel under some railway tracks where the pond went under and busted his rod when he hit it off the concrete. Ive seen ppl slam them in trunks, doors, even step on their own rod.

Then they all look to me to fix em...
