hi. great board you seem to have here! this is my first post and i'm just an amateur. my question is: i'm going to the cottage (muskoka near gravenhurst) next week and when i went last year all i seemed to catch were sunfish! i was just using a hook with worms. any advice on how i can catch something other than sunfish or is there no way to avoid them? thanks for any help you can offer!

thanks,
liver

Maybe stop using worms on a small hook

well, i'm just a beginner. any advice on a lure or something else i can use up and around gravenhurst/muskokas? i think it's mostly bass but again, being an amateur i'm not quite sure what kind of fish they have in the area.

thanks!

Start using artificial lures like crankbaits, spoons, spinners and grubs.

Yup a good place to start...spend alittle cash expand your tackle and your horizons...good luck with the fishing.

Grab some 4/0 or 5/0 Wide Gap hooks with some Senko worms, tubes or frogs. These are usually too big for most panfish and will help you in targeting those bass. Have fun!

If you are a fan of the worms, just use bigger worms....a full worm and a larger hook will keep the lil buggers off and land you the buggun!

great! i'm going to try that. do you use hooks with the frogs?

Yes I use those hooks for frogs as well. You can also get rubber frogs that already come rigged, but a lot of them are costly for just 1. The most productive frog for me are Stanley Ribbit Frogs, however Im not sure if any local stores here sell them, as I had to order them from the states. If you want to purchase locally, your next best bet are either Strike King Rage Tails or YUM Buzz frogs.
