So me and my buddy have been out on Rice lake the past 3 or 4 weeks, unfortunately only one day a week tho. We have definatley increased our catch count but nothing of any size. I think it might be our location, and our mode of transportation. Via family connections we have free use of a paddle boat, yep a paddle boat anytime we want. So we cant get very far in this boat and it gets very interesting with wind and not having an anchor its hard to fish in certain spots just because it takes forever to get anywhere and we cant just post up and fish.

This is the first year I've used a Senko, and I love em.
Only experimented with the 5" size and a few different colours but I seem to have nailed down the best colour for where I was.

So yesterday was our best day in terms of number of fish landed. I think we got 13, nothing bigger then 2lb's, not much smaller then either. I had tons of fun dont get me wrong, but Id love it if one of us to get a chunker on the line. I just want to know if I'm using the right bait. Here's what we tried yesterday:

1)5" Senko wacky rig
2)Panther Martin 15 spinner
3)Spinner Bait with split tail trailer (white on white)
4)Perch coloured crank

Only thing that didnt produce was option #3

Should we be using the bigger senko? I'm a novice, but the 7" senko just seems too big

More time in the water will eventually get you the size you wanted. It's a first come first serve...meaning the quicker and closer fish will get to your lure first...good luck and hopefully stars will align for you.

If those lures are working for you, use the same lures just get them in bigger sizes. Just expect the number of fish you catch to go down a bit

These are nice fish. Fish these size fight good and in numbers can give you a lot of fun. Like others have said, increase your lure size, try some hardbaits, these normally catch me my biggest fish.

Fish of size on Rice lake = Carp. Hook one and let em pull you around.

Well I'm just about to leave for Rice again now. Weather aint great. Never been a believe in fishing biting after rain but lets hope I'm wrong!

7" senkos aren't big, they'll get you some better fish.
true. when i'm on my boat with a more novice angler and they see me rig up some 7" senkos and they always say to me "whoa, that's too big for a fish to try and eat". but then a 2 pounder + slams it no problem. even 1 pounders are taking it. but a lot of the time on those bigger senkos i get multiple bites but no hook up because the smaller fish are nipping at it or biting but not to point of where the hook is. i find that the bigger fish are more likely the swallow that damn thing.
