Hey everyone,
I'm looking to hook up an older Humminbird wide 128 that my dad had lying around onto my kayak. I've found all the parts except the battery, which I'm left somewhat stuck on.

I think I want to go the 12V route rather than trying to hook up AA's in series or something like that, I have a hatch that would house a 12V battery nicely. But as for the battery itself, would the Humminbird battery shown here:

vastly outperform a cheaper equivalent from Can tire, or the local surplus store?

Is it a difference of longevity, charge length, or water resistance? Maybe some of each?

Time is also somewhat of a factor, if I buy from Can tire or the surplus store I'll be able to use it this weekend on St Clair for some musky

I picked up a 10 or 12AH battery at Canadian Tire for 50 bucks a few years ago. You can buy any 12v battery, you want it to be at least 7AH but bigger is better as long as weight is not an issue. I use the big battery on my Kayak as well as Ice fishing and it's nice having the extra AH but you likely won't need it with that unit.

interesting, well if thats the case I guess I'll buy the cheap surplus store one and then upgrade if I have to

Thanks for the help!
