Today I went fishing for half and hour. I caught a bass and it was hooked through the gill plate but not the gills... Any who, so when I see this I decide that the best thing to do is to cut the hook shank so the eye of the hook is not attached to the bend of the hook and then I could just slide the hook out from the outside. I put the fish back in the water while I am grabbing my pliers/wire cutters. When my back is turned this man comes alongs, grabs the fish and rips the hook out with a pair of pliers! Since he was not careful he practically tore 1/4 of the gill plate off and said that it was best for the fish to be missing 1/4 of it's gill plate then have a little hole and that the fish was going to die in the time it took me to remove the hook (it would have only taken me 2 minutes)! How could someone be soo stupid!
