will people look at me as a snagger or unsportsmanlike or something? was planning on trying a silver mepps 2 aglia, kwikfish, and maybe some small rapala minnows..

also have some 1/2 oz spoons, but im assuming these are too big

nope, trout will hit on all those. i got trout on spoons & kwikfish in the niagara last year

Hardest part will be trying to find a pool to be able to get a good cast in... with all the float fisherman around you may have a hard time. Spinners and spoons def. have their days, shouldn't have a problem hooking into one, or ten :) No one owns the river and there isn't any "right" way of fishing a pool, bottom bouncing, lure casting floating or fly its all fair game but not everyone shares the same view. Casting kwikfish through a pool once I was told " Thanks for scaring all the fish..." I guess fish bite when they're scared.

saw a guy hook a nice sized one on a kwikfish, that's what gave me the idea

I don't plan on casting it into pools with a bunch of guys drifting.. but if I get there earlier and get a nice pool to myself. then i'll try it out for sure..

i have a brand new spinning rod to try out.

thanks guys, gonna try it out

im not used to steelheading, i heard it can get ugly out there lol

edit: sure didn't take much for me to get addicted though, what a great species, anyway im gonna go tie some roe bags for my float rod, thanks again guys and i'll let you know if i have any success

Unless you have a crystal float tied to a short leader with a dime-sized presentation, you are not going to win favour with the river-gangs. Sounds like you are using proper discretion so you will be fine. Fish with confidence and nobody will hassle you.
