Yes Lake Joe is CLOSED till till Feb 15th. But Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau, Joes Sister lakes are open Jan 1st. Lake Joe is closed till Feb 15th becuz the Lake Ice is not safe till then. lake Joe is strange that way, she will be open till jan 20th then make 2 feet of ice in 2 weeks. And

Opening Day on Joe is a mad house more so this year the 15th is a Saturday, I go but leave my huts at home, with everyone trying to get there huts out its easyer (and safer) to just fishing with no perment hut. I will let everyone else do there thing for a few days till the 18th ish and then I will take my huts out. besides if there in any slush on the lake, it a real pain in taking the huts out first day. Let everyone else clear a trail out, get stuck...ect.... then by the 18th the trail out will be froze solid and my huts are WAY easyer to get out to my spots. :)

Good...Good... looks like I will not have to buy bait all winter, (evil laugh HAHAHA)

but I do not mind if 10 people want to come at once.
More people more fun
Just will take me afew more trips from shore to the hut thats all.

Hey liger is lake muskoka and lake Rosseau as as good as lake Joseph?? I haven' tried fishing this lakes before but they look connected so I am thinking the fishing there might be as good as well.

I have not fished Lake Muskoka in the winter but I do fish Lake Rosseau before Lake Joe Opens, I fish Near Port Sandfield But I would say find Deep water on Lake Muskoka and you have a chance for Lakers

ya last time I drank on the ice was 2 years ago at a guy ice bungalow.

PS: it is Legal to drink in a bungalow becuz there is a washroom and beds,

It is NOT legal to drink in an normal Ice hut since there is NO Washroom or Bed. both are needed not just one. come to think of it a shove my be needed as well. I was legal though.

So if I have a sleeping bag and that toilet/bucket I saw at Sail a few weeks ago I can drink on the ice? lol

I stayed away from ice fishing for years because most of the stories I heard were of a bunch of guys renting a hut on Simcoe, getting drunk, falling down the hole, coming home with 2-3 small perch etc!!
