Spent the last couple of days hunting down pike with some success. Check out my blog for all the slimy details.

swwwweeeet pike...if i remember correctly you were an early season pike slayer last year too.
you know and understand how to locate and present this time of year...excellent work!! :|
inspirational!!!
checked your site out again...its getting better....your doing a great job adding to it.

Nice job Dirk! Too bad I didn't read about the long pause before I went out today! Looking forward to going back there soon enough with the new technique in hand :|

What # flour leader do you use?

With the leader & swivel and such... it weighs too much that it'll sink the suspending lures like husky jerk. Than again my flourleaders are 80lb test.

Any tips to better suspend those lures when used with leaders? 80lb is bit too thick but maybe i should tie it directly to the lure.

I have been using 20lb Berkley Big Game Fluoro as my heavier stuff is at the cottage. No swivel, just uni to uni knot. The Pike in the TO area aren't that big so you really don't need a heavy leader. But having said that I did get broken off the first time out. Whether it bit the line or the knot failed, not sure.
