This trip was meant to take place a month earlier, but due to work & scheduling conflicts it wasn't possible until early last week. We finally got out for some perch icefishing before this latest mild spell was going to hit us, we got up early at about 5:30 am, and got to the shuttle area at 7:00, met up with Whitey (from Simcoe Fishing Adventures) and got shuttled out, we were fishing by about 7:05 am. Got to hut, nice & heated with a bucket of minnows for each of us, we immediately got rigged up. I tied on one of my jigs tipped w/ a minnow, while my buddy was using a 2-way spreader, we started fishing off the bottom (1-3 inches off bottom), pretty much leaving the jig motionless but letting the minnow do its thing, and do a light jiggle here & there. Within a few minutes, my buddy gets a fish on, next thing we know I get one on. I luved just watching the end of the rod for light bumps & nudges, the action was HOT and the bite was pretty much non-stop from 7am till around 11am. We caught about 50 fish for the morning, kept 24 for the frying pan. All in all, a excellent trip, I'll probably go again with Whitey next year, I highly recommend these guys. Here's a couple videos of the 3-man hut we rented, it actually has a name, "The Terminator" !! Whitey actually has named his huts, we saw another hut beside named "Fat Boys" lol.
