As we get closer to drop back season I thought it would be good to get another thread going.

Here you can discuss tying techniques and presentation of those tightline flies...

(I will be posting a few of my favourites and a couple of my own creations later.|)

Now since CC has all of a sudden taken a liking to me I felt as though I should follow through on my earlier promise.

Here are the flies that spend the majority of their time at the end of my sink tips. I chose 3 (4) different variations to post which cover pretty much all conditions.

Starting at the top are the mickyfinn/variation. I normally fish these flies in smaller flows with a little bit of colour to them, but in turn these were the first flies I ever swung on the NE coast of superior. They can be sized up or down depending and are tied more or less weightless.

Secondly is the string thing, I tie mine weightless in 3 sizes ( S,M,L), the are a shank fly and as you can see have many colour variations to be fished in varying conditions. Gawky colours for the winter with a bigger profile and more subtle colours for lower water.

Lastly my Favourite of the bunch as a few of you may know from my previous posts about it. The squidro can fulfil pretty well any role you put it in. I am just learning to tie these (this was bought from leland) but the carry what Scott Howell (the father of squidro) calls the series. Seafood series- A series of more natural ocean coloured flies in varying sizes, The summer series- A series of flies in crayfish, sculpin, leech variations in smaller sizes. Winter series- Big Gawky bugs with bigger lead eye. looking for a reaction strike.

Well these are my favourites. What are yours?

Squidro is a monster fly, They dont seem that hard to tie but when I actually sit at the vice I can never seem to do them right.

What do men know? Because they have seen not unicorns for a while does not mean we have all vanished. We do not vanish

Somebody else needs to contribute to this, Am I the only believer.

i've posted the ones i've tied in another thread already, and although i've only fished popsicles/intruders a few times, i can't wait til we get some soft water and test em out on some pike and steel
