Is Centre Island Ok Or Is It Just Me?

So we (me and my son) went to centre island for fishing on Canada day. I had a night shift that night so we went at 12:00 pm. When we got there, there was no fish to be found! We fished till 9:00 pm and did not get a single bite. We were aiming for bass but there was literally no fish to be found! No baitfish and no gobies even. The ponds (trout pond and the other one I forgot what its name was) we tried topwater with (cause all lilies) and we had no success at all. The canals were also void of fish. We asked around the 7 people who went fishig hat day (not many) and they all told us fishing was slow and they had caught no fish despite being there for the whole day (well one person did catch 2 6 inch bass but that's too small to be accounted). We tried everything soft plastics, spoons, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, buzzbaits, topwater (frogs mostly also rats), and some others. Yet we still can't catch anything. Was this because of the Dragon Boat race today or is Center Island lost for shore fishing?

This is the reason I stopped fishing there.
Early spring is good for pike but then it dies down.

I will be going next week to try it out. It was pre-planned so I can't cancel now lol. I hope there is no boat racing when I go

It's just you... lol jk... There's always fish at the islands, there's a islands fishing map public on Google.

People don't really eat islands fish, and Lake Ontario has lots of fish.
