Anybody ever have any luck fishing by the shipwreck in Jordan Harbour?..
I stopped by there the other day and saw lots of people trolling around boats not far out by the opening of the harbour.. Anybody have any good experiences casting from shore in this area? I'd imagine the boat is a hotspot during the summer (providing shade/cover for fish on warm/sunny days). I'm aiming to catch pike (some dude at the bait store said that area is decent for pike).
Also, does anybody know if you're allowed fishing in the marina there? I tried fishing the marina at 50 point where there were no boats docked, and some pissed off old coffin-dodger gave me an earful of crap for making two casts in the marina. (not sure if it's the same general rule of 'no fishing' in all marinas).

Any info on the area/subject would be great.

Thanks folks, and happy fishing!

Lol coffin-dodger

And most marinas will not let you fish .. Think about it.. Those people have paid to dock their boats there.. Think they want to have fishing line from some young d-bag tangled in their motor.. Hook in the cover.. Etc

To be honest I've fished marinas before and never had anybody complain. You just gotta be careful and respectful and make sure its not a private area for the boat owners. Not sure why the old guy gave you a problem unless you were casting to close to the boats or you were in a private area

Ya I've fished in other marinas with absolutely no issues before.. I'd never dare fish close to somebody's boat because I know how expensive it is to own a boat, and I respect other peoples property. Usually I find areas where there's no boats docked, and just stick to that area; I just wasn't sure if there was a general rule (maybe just an unspoken rule) of "no fishing in marinas" that I was not aware of.

They were trolling for salmon and browns with planer boards and downriggers. The salmon and trout are scattered near shore this time of year to eat the spawning smelts and other baitfish. I caught a salmon in the mud yesterday and the 3 other fish were in the green water, out of casting reach. There are pronounced mudlines right now which have been yielding fish, not just from a boat. I know there is panfish there, not sure about anything else but the harbour is typically a good spot year round.
