A buddy and I are heading up to Shark Lake in the Kawartha Highlands this coming weekend. We plan on getting a lot of fishing in while we are up there (4 days). We are launching on Coon Lake then heading through a few smaller lakes before arriving at our site on Shark Lake. Vixen Lake is also an option to fish as it is only one portage away from our campsite.

I have been told (from park officer and research) that there are pike, bass, trout, walleye and pan fish in most of the lakes in the area. I also heard a lot about Musky being around but I have to assume they would be in the larger bodies of water.

Has anyone been out fishing on these lakes or lakes close by? I am hoping there is some good fishing to be had while we are there. I will be targeting mainly bass and pike but also going for some pan fish/walleye or trout for some shore lunches would be nice.

I haven't really found much about people fishing Shark Lake (although I've read a bit about Vixen), hoping we don't get skunked.

Well my fears of skunking vanished as our first casts netted us two nice large mouth followed by too many to count per hour bass fishing. Full report and pictures to come!
