I have a cottage about an hour past bancroft on a small lake that is not fished much. We catch alot of largemouth and the occasional pike and small mouth, not much perch. I am going up there this coming long weekend and am looking to catch some pike. If anyone has some tips specific to that area of lakes (shallow/ medium sized) about catching pike i would appriciate some feedback. I can reveal more information about the lake if asked. THANKS!

It seems that you can't really go wrong with a spinnerbait for pike. Over the last couple of fishing trips, I've caught 3 hammerhandles all on a white spinnerbait. Depending on the weather conditions, you'll probably have to change the speed of your retrieve though.

Try using some swimbaits for pike. Target any structure close to deeper water in the summer months. Also, trolling a Jointed Rapala (J-11 or J-13) around the lake will help you locate some fish.

Every time I ever caught a pike I used either live minnows or spinner baits with willow blades. I have heard of people swearing by the red-devil spoons but I have not had much luck with those.

Id stick to the spinner-baits and maybe a william wabler here and there. Trolling rapalas is always a good way to locate like said above. Stay outside the weeds and try to mark or keep track of which weedbeds are active and which arent.
