Hi all,
Just found this forum. Looks like a great place to hook-up with fellow fishermen. Wondering if anyone is into kayak fishing, and if so, what you fish in and where you fish?

I'm not steady enough in a Kayak to just kayak, so fishing in one for me right now is not an option, lol.

do you fish from a special type of kayak when fishing?
i looked it up on google and i saw that lots of people do but i was wondering if it is hard to fish from a normal kayak

Some people do fish from regular kayaks, but the sit-on-tops tend to be more stable with more room for gear. You can also accessorize them with fishfinders, GPS, downrigers and even motors. See attached...View attachment 6925

thats a pretty serious kayak
i guess you can troll i tighter places than with a big boat

You are right on that. Not only can you fish just about anywhere, but you can launch anywhere. Be happy to take you our this summer. We are actually giving one away at end of season similar to above with motor etc. plus downrigger.

Hope we have a chance to hook-up this season.

What a cool looking set-up...I have never kayak`ed before, so I think fishing from one would be a funny sight, but looks like something I would try...do alot of fishing in canoes, and that is extrememly uncomfortable...but that guy is standing....man thats sweet!

my question is how would this guy have managed to reel in this shark without flipping

Great question? I love kayak fishing, but I think this is where I draw the line. If I am shark fishing, I want a big boat. But there are a lot of guys that are into this, both in California and Florida. There are vids on youtube. I will try to dig some up and post them here.

We will just have to get you out with us then. Where do you generally fish?

These sit-on-tops are remarkably stable. You can dangle your feet over the sides, sit side saddle and even as you can see, stand on some of them. Would be happy to take you out to give it a try.

i looked on a couple websites and they can weigh anywhere from 46lbs-130lbs, and can sell for pretty good prices, i think i might buy/rent one this summer as i would love to be able to get out on the water
