When I was on vacation a few days ago I remembered how important it is to know how the wind effects the fishing. If you have a spot that you go 4 times or more per year, I suggest taking a notepad and recording the days you went fishing, how strong the wind was and what direction it was going. Wind can really effect your chances of fish. I have recorded my local bass hole. It is a small, muddy creek. I have found that about a 2-5 km/h wind from the west is the best, with a east wind being the worst (east pushing the water upstream, not downstream). No wind is also good there, but nothing is as good as the west wind.

Record the wind direction and speed, and you will be a happy fisherman/woman!

Cheers,
Cat

Interesting observation...

I find depending on the species, I've had on my local river where on windy days just the chub and shiners hit, while on more still, mild evenings, the bass, catfish, and other gamefish like perch come out more.

Exactly what I'm talking about here. All your spots will be likely different, and it can be really useful to no this stuff to avoid going out just to get skunked.
