hey there..

new to fishing.. the family and I seemed to have developed a taste for the great outdoors during various trips to cottages / camping this summer.. what we lack in skill we make
up in enthusiasm and patience..

so we were looking to get away on labour day and do some fishing.. we have a major road block .. no boats.. my wife is afraid we'll spend more time fishing the five year old out of the water
than actually fishing..

so..we keep looking at rice lake as potential get away for monday morning.. any tips on places to go where we can spend the day fishing from the shore / or places that might rent for the day
that we could fish from a dock?

if anyone has any other spots we could try .. please let me know.. I've fished canal lake (2 pound bass and about a hundred crappies) and Balsam lake (a few small mouth bass)

thanks for any help!

Hi

Kid friendly you can go to Gore's Landing. There is a public dock there and I've seen plenty of people catching crappie and bass. Most parents don't put life jackets on the kids there but I would; the water is about 3' deep and the pier is 3' above that. Get there early tho. The crowd builds up quick and the good spot will be taken. Watch out for the parking, they ticket the fire route.

Bewdley has a park there east of the LCBO. The floating docks are only in about 2' of water. I was told there are sunfish and crappie there in the morning.

Both spots I believe have boat rentals.

Where on Balsam did you go? I used to go there years ago and there were big LMBs. PM me.

Good luck and have a good fishing weekend.
