What is the likelyhood of a salmon being unreleaseable in lake O? I wouldn't want to kill a bunch of them when i dont even eat them. And I'm talking about downriggng here.

Hey Catfish.

I went on a charter in Port Credit last year. We caught a great amount of fish. The boat we were with really had the mentality of keeping them all unless they were REALLY small. I don't even like eating them so I made sure we put some back. It was amazing fun and I hooked into a 30lbs Chinook but I didn't want 8-10 fish to eat. We were just firm that we wanted C & R. They did seem a little surprised (which makes you scared of how many fish might be taken out of that lake)

I think for fish like lake trout and rainbows the survival rate can be low while caught downrigging depending on things like ball depth and water temp. Some online research should help answer your question more fully.

I do not know the answer to your question, but here are my thoughts. Charters do not release many fish because many on board figure they've paid a lot for the charter so they might as well keep the fish. I think some captains believe the survival rate for released salmon to be low and therefore encourage clients to keep what they catch.
