Has anyone fished here before, Lake Gibson, up the 406? I went on Saturday...lotsa little guys, wondering if anything good in there? will send some pics later. Can you rent a boat anywhere on this lake?

When I went to school my house backed on it. Get out there at night in a canoe or something ,with surface lures and they smash them. Some nice bass in there

I fished there on the open this year, Fish were in a large padded section off a point in shallow water. Caught them on a frog and punching through with texas rigged craws.

Didnt get any big fish. All around 1.5

I have been told but cannot confirm that there are some Musky in there.
Come to think of it I cannot confirm that there Musky anywhere. Can't say I've ever caught one.

Alfie.

Hey schnip. The place I told you about for Specks. Well it meets another stream about half a mile down that is full of Hammer-Handles who just love flies. Catch 1-2 lb pike on the fly all day long. It's a blast on light gear.

I can definitely say they are large pike and musky through out all the lakes along beaver dams and decew rd. bass fishing is also real good in these areas.

....anywhere in the US those bodies of water would be open to the public... canoes and kayaks. The lame excuse that they don't want the contaminated sediments disturbed is baloney.... and any insurance/liability excuse is baloney as well

plenty of fish in there.... just ask the morons who target bass in there in April and May!

Oh they're the best lol, I completely ignore that spot in may, MNR was there quite a bit this year to. Told me it hasn't been to bad this year with the poachers.. They closed it off to boats because a bunch of yahoo's kept vandelizing the "tube" by DQ area (spray painting etc..)

And yea the whole contaminated bottom is bull, If you go down DQ where that little "pier" is they have tubes that come out of gibson and than shoot down to the lower body of water thats off limits... So basically st catharines is getting there drinking water right from gibson lol

I heard and seen a lot about musky in lake Gibson, haven't fished it myself for more then an hour tho, dust catch anything but from what I hear, just use pike baits like rapalas and top waters, spinner baits. Some small buck tails maybe, everyone that I heard had caught one there says they were fishing pike and bass. I don't think there are enough in there too be able to catch them consistently but there more then likely in there

ive been fishing here for 20 years as i live in thorold and down the street from gibson. lake gibson used to be alot better recently alot of construction around here has caused them to lower the water by 5 feet and is very difficult to fish . and the water is very polluted from the old factorys which is why they dont want any boats in there stirring up the bottom off the lake. as far as fish huge carp, alot of bass, big pike muskie ,the odd sucker and channel cat. depending on what your fishing for i can direct you guys to good spots. any questions just ask

If you have a boat, the upper niagara has lots o muskies. Best spot in niagara for muskies without a doubt!

Just moved to Thorold from the east coast, just wondering if theres any good options around for fly fishing spots that can be access via mix of bike and transit since I don't have a vehicle atm.
