It seems the only place I have any luck is at Sturgeon Lake in Bobcaygeon, ON.
I have since tried finding new spots, closer to home, somewhere to scratch the itch and/or kill time when I don't feel like driving two hours to SL.
I have tried Grenadier Pond in High Park, no luck whatsoever with my lures (spinners, jitterbugs, hula poppers, crankbaits, etc.) Note, I have not yet tried worms there, maybe those will work, I just never remember to bring them with me and there's nowhere nearby that sells them.
Today I tried Marie Curtis Park and Colonel Samuel Park, nothing.
This evening I went to Lake Ontario near Lakeshore and Ellis Avenue, just west of the white bridge there's that spot with the massive rocks people climb.. I saw an Asian fishing, was there 20 minutes watching, saw him catch nothing although I saw plenty of fish jump out of the water (almost certain they were fish) and a massive fish (perhaps a carp) creeping along the rocks towards the dudes cast.
My question, do you actually catch anything off that area? I'm planning on returning with a buddy to try it out with worms and corn.
There's got to be some better places nearby one can go, fish, and actually catch some, without having to travel hours out of the city. This is becoming frustrating. I would have just gone up to Sturgeon Lake had the weather not looked like it was going to pour all day.
