With the ice fast approaching I have only 1 goal that I want to complete this season and thats to catch some trout throught the ice of Lake O . Living in Ottawa I dont get the chance to venture to far along the 401 in search of these awesome fish . I have done some research on where I would be able to ice fish and possibly catch a laker, brown or bow . The majority of locations where around hamilton....50 point...the furthest possible end of the lake from me . Anybody know of any area'sbetween Toronto and kingston that might be safe ? I am not looking for secret locations just a general area to look . Thanks for your help in advance !

Why don't you look for a stocking list for your area I bet you could find a laker or bow lake alot closer to home and would probaby have better chances. Bows through the ice on lake O can be slow I've heard

I have stocking lists and use them . Lakers I have dialed in. Bows and browns are hard to access, the ones that are easy are pooched by the second week in . Something about lake ontario I just want to try , the thought of not knowing what species is peeling drag is kinda whats appealing .

You can try cutting some holes at some of the eastern lake o trib mouths and harbours but expect the fishing to be slow. 50 pt is not worth the gas, if you were to go that way port d or the Niagara would be more suitable and the water would be open too.
