So i was up in tobermory for 2 days and wanted to fish there but i had no time. So my dad promised me a fishing trip in August as he has a week off. So i've talked to a fellow fisherman in my community centre and he said to go to stoney lake or a lake in peterborough as there are a lot of bass there. But, i read a couple of fishing reports for lake scugog and i saw some monster bass.

I really cant decide where to go, so any suggestions?

BTW i am going to buy an inflatable row boat from walmart.... 2 person boat for $39 which is an amazing deal.

Thanks,

cancerthecrab

P.s suggestions for tackle would be helpful as i am also going to buy new lures

I've had some really good luck on Scugog! Caught a giant Smally and hooked into a 15 lb Muskie fishing for Bass, but it broke off.

Never fished stoney before so I dont know about that lake.

Twister Tail Grubs work wonders on Scugog, small spinners are great too!

Thanks for your input, ill keep that in mind.

BTW where can i get lures for cheap? are there any sales near mississauga? If u noe plz pm me.

Thanks

Ive never fished it but if its deep then cranks or drop shot rig. If you are hitting weedlines then cranks or texas rigged plastic worms. If you are hitting structure like logs, stumps, or underneath overhanging trees, then throw wacky rigged senkos. Im having a brain fart right now on bass baits lol.

thanks for your help catfish. do u noe any good bass spots, i might change my mind about scugog

If you want more consistency.. I'd say definitely Stoney Lake... I've had many a skunkings on Scugog, but when you do catch something it's usually a trophy. I remember one weekend fishing there caught nothing but two smallmouth pushing 6lb.

Thanks for the info,

I m going to buy some gear tomorrow as well as the inflatable boat. If anyone knows any specific brands for lures plz write here. I am mainly targeting bass but other fish are ok.

If you're targeting bass, I think a pack of YUM Dingers in the 4 inch size should be something you have and also grubs/jigheads which can catch walleye and bass.

What colour should the yum dingers be? And on what hook?
I'm not that experienced of an angler so I'm not to sure about which colour is best but a basic guideline is something natural, you ask the employees at Lebaron, they can be very helpful. I use VMC 3/0 Extra wide gap hooks for my stick worms.
