Sooo the girlfriend and I went to do some ice fishing last week. Great condition's, great time's, and some great perch and whitefish! (seems like their trolling perch grounds). Enjoy. P.s. seems like yellow/green mix lures and blue line is the key, also don't forget your leader's!..

nice work ... were you in shallow or out deep?

35-40ft seems to be a good hot spot for a variety of species. But i will give you one hint, that work's on many species. Northland Eyedropper's (yellow/green), not the popular tear drop's, with small minnow's off the hook (or perch eye's!).

Thanks for report and pics.

Looks like you had a great day.
Well done Mike!

Glad you and the girlfriend enjoyed it.

Thanks Blair!..and surprisingly she did!..yaaaay now she know's where i'm coming from when i ditch out on day plans :D..

For white fish size 8 work's pretty well suit with chub's, also work's well for jumbo perch, and keep's the wee lil one's off the hook. I went out this weekend with the old man for a 24 hour ice fishing mission and it was slow!. One thing i forgot to check before going, is the lunar calendar. It was about 90% full which usually shift's normal feeding ground's when in between the range of 85% to full. So the mass amounts jumbo perch and the school of trolling whitefish caught on friday 11th, were no where to be seen in the same condition's on tuesday the 14th. I will definitely mention though that the night time bring's out the big boy's of the perch world. Around 3 am it picked up a bit. Unfortunately i have a "yeah, sure buddy" story involving a perch that was the approx. 16-17 inch's and at least 2 lbs, more 2 1/4, that was on my dad's line. The fish ran his line up along the wooden board that outlined the slot of open water and cut it. Easily the biggest perch i have seen in my life, but we kept a couple of 1 lber's and a nice 12 inch that was just over 1 1/2lbs. Either way, check your moon's before departing for some ice fishing!. I'll post some pics once i upload em.
