I spent this past summer fishing all over Ontario, but the most memorable and successful trip was to Lake St. Joseph's Old Post Lodge in Pickle Lake Ontario. Our trip was hooked up through a friend who is a guide up there. If anyone ever has the chance and the cash to take this trip, the accomadations were spectacular, cold beer, hot meals, shore lunch, it is definitly the exact opposite of 'roughing it'. Visit Oldpost.com for more info. This lake has only 3 major species other than baitfish, northern pike, walleye and whitefish. The whitefish were definitly elusive, we caught 3 or 4 over the wholel trip but each fish averaged 5 or 6 pounds. The walleye were plentiful, but nothing of size. The largest walleye we caught was about 25 inches which is still a nice fish. Average walleye were about the size of the slot limit up there at 18 or 19 inches. The Northern Fishing was amazing. We caught easily over one hundred pike over 27" and probably at least 5 or 6 fish over 40". Only single barbless or single barbless treble are allowed, so we spent most of the time jigging for walleye, and throwing spoons for pike. The staff, owners and guides were fantastic at old post. Boat were mostly 16 and 17 foot aluminum lunds with 30-50 hp yamaha four strokes. Great to fish out of. I have attached some pictures of the monsters we caught up there, and because the walleye fishing was so plentiful we barely had time to take picture before someone else in the boat had a fish on. Definitly worth the time and money....trip of a lifetime.

That sounds like an awsome trip. Those sure are a couple of beatuies. Amazing how different the colouring is. Guess they were caught at different spots on the lake. Thanks for the report. Cheers.
