Hey everyone, I am a newbie to the boards... I have a question about fishing for lakers around Killarney. We do most of our fishing in Beaverstone Bay and Mill Lake (between Killarney and Key Harbour) for bass, pike, muskie, walleye, etc... Hooking into a good lake trout just looks like too much fun to not try.
Beaverstone Bay prob has a max depth of 60ft, but we have ready access to big water. We do most of our fishing up there in mid-summer. I have done a lot of reading on general approaches to fishing for Lake Trout but I was wondering if anyone had any information that could be helpful for me. I have a good, new Humminbird fish finder... so electronics shouldn't be a problem. I just don't want to go out in 100 feet of water totally blind (besides what the fish finder can provide).
Anyone have any tips on targeting lake trout in Northern Georgian Bay? I know people catch them up there, but I don't know where or how. There are worse things to do than waste time fishing, but doing it in 100 feet of water without any real knowledge could be a real waste.
Thanks in advance... I appreciate it.
