So I'm brand new to Ontario, Hamilton specifically. It seems that every lake within an hour's drive belongs to a Conservation Area, and you're required to pay in order to fish it. Are there any places within an hour's drive of Hamilton where I can fish for largemouths for free? Or are there access points on the local reservoirs where I can put my float tube in, where I don't have to pay? Any help would greatly increase my quality of life. Thanks!

Jeremy

im sure there are closer places but Lasalle Park Marina would be a good spot for you to go.

hmmmm head to Google Earth and hit hose local farm ponds, with landowner's permission of course :D

Jordan Harbour down the QEW towards St. Kitts has fine largemouth

Lasalle Park without a doubt!

I have been doing quite well bringing in 1 or 2 respectable sized largies and outing there.

PM me if you decide to try it ou I'd probably be down for some Lasalle largies!

That's a nice largemouth, I was catching similar coloured ones earlier today on the fly, albeit much smaller ones. Hard to tell whether they're LM or SM when they're so bright. I was not expecting to catch them at all at this location, was just scoping it out and was pleasantly surprised to find the biggest concentration of LMB I've ever encountered! Had a few on that were 1lb+, I will be returning with some lures.

Puslinch by Cambridge. The guy with the dock charges $15 for a big boat and $5 for small ones. But on the other side of the restaurant is a small beach that the trailer park people use. I'm guessing you can park by the restaurant and then enter the water on your tube via the beach. However, if this seems frowned upon when there then just pay the $5 for this one time and you'll learn. There are LM and pike in there and the odd walleye. Mind you, this lake is shallow and can range from 2 feet to 5 feet in most spots so you may have to walk a fair bit out there before you can move around. also next to this lake is little lake which has access from a little spot on the north side of it.

Guleph lake is about an hour or so. on the east side on wellington road 29 i've seen people park on the shoulder and drop a canoe in from there after just a little bit of bush whacking.

bronte creek and sixteen mile creek. both in oakville. bronte you can park on the west side on residential street. not sure about from the marina. sixteen you can park near the library but they charge a small rate. not sure where you can park for free there.

credit river you can park for free at non busy times just north of lakeshore and drop your tube in from there.
