OFFICIAL REPORT*

Date: Sunday June 8th, 2008.
Time fished: 8am~11am.
Location: LaSalle Marina, Burlington- ON
Condition: Overcast, with sunny breaks.
Water is getting quite warm.
Some weed growth apparent, mixed with sand and rock bottom.
Temperature was around 25 degree’s but high humidex
Weapons: 8” light action Ugly Stick, 10lb line & a home made musky spinner I got from a guy up north.
Comments: I started casting this heavy spinner and doing a fast retrieve hoping to catch a decent size pike, or any for that matter. I was not getting any hits and decided to slow the retrieve down considerably. It was about 20 casts in when I stared getting decent hits on my spinner and then Bam! A decent largemouth nailed it and the fight was on. My rod choice was a little over kill and I was not able to really have a decent fight, but it was nice to catch something. I moved down shore about 50ft and started pitching the spinner out again and after another 10 cast’s or so something hit it like a log, and this time it was no Bass, this thing ran out at least 100 yards, and for a second I considered the possibilities of a musky in this marina, and then though no just a big pike. It zig zagged, and just when I got some line it took off again. I played this for at least 5 min before I was able to get a look at it. To my surprise it was not the Pike I was after, but a 20 pound carp I had hooked in the side, lol. I snapped a couple pic’s and then unhooked him and he was off no harm done. I was not at the actual marina but after you park you walk down to these fishing reefs that were built a couple years back that I have not fished before, I will illustrate exactly were I was in an attached diagram. I saw a ton of bass, and also at least 50 gar pike, and I tried pitching everything after I saw them to entice a hit but no luck. I was alone, this spot is not fished often because it’s about a 10 min walk from the marina and it’s hidden by trees on the shore.

Sorry if this pics are small I had so a ton and wanted add the seperatley but I could'nt.

I don't know why I missed this one too!
Excellent report. Pictures and maps are great.
I definitely appreciate the effort you put into it.

Also, foul-hooked carp give the most awesome fight everrrrr!!!
