Hi guys and gals. I would like some advice about lb test. I have been using 14 lb mono line on my baitcaster which I use manly for bass and chucking crankbaits. I feel like I have the baitcaster lb line about righseeing that I get snagged on logs at my local creek and need to be able to pull free. My main spinning reel though is mainly what I need tips on. I have 10 lb line on it right now. When I go on vacation I always bring this one along. I have fished in stuations where i need lighter line and heavier line. I mainly fish with this one for bass, trout, catfish and panfish. It is a medium action 6'6" spinning rod. I would like advice on what lb line I should use, if i should go to heavier line or lighter line.
Thanks

A lot of folks point to what the rod is rated for. And to a lesser extent what the real is capable of holding. There are far, far, more experienced guys here but I go heavy on my baitcaster and 6-8lb on my spinning. Right now I'm really enjoying some 6lb mono on it. I've got a little bit longer of a rod which allows me to kinda of manually unsnag stuff as opposed to having to just pull on it

Catfish, I would run a primo 8 lb on that rod, 10 seems a little much even if the rod is rated for that, I am sure it's rated for 8-10 lb. You can always have 10 on your spare spool if you really need it. Trilene Super Mono is a sweet line, love it. Keep the line diameter down that a primo line can offer.

my two cents worth :D
