LeBaron - Experiences?

the store itself carries float fishing stuff that are a little cheaper than most private or big box stores, for example blackbird clear floats, tubing and other small stuff is cheaper, for return policy they told me to ship my rod back to shimano in peterborough and i have to deal with the whole warranty issue, because they say they dont deal with warranty stuff in the store, so i paid for shipping and got my new float rod from them after 4months,,, in comparison i have to return a rod to BPS because on the 2nd smallmouth it had the tip portion snapped, brought it back to BPS gave me an option to get the same rod or get store credit for a better one, the whole return process took 10mins, i still go to both stores, but only to lebarons when i need floats and tubing,

These big box stores have better prices by very little from most honest private guys but you get better service with the private guys by far !! I will support a private guy long before I go to a big box and for me the savings are lost in gas any way so they really don't save me money any way

I've never had a problem with returns/exchanges at LeBaron...from $200 reels to $400 sonars.

Shimano takes 4 MONTHS to replace a rod? is this common?

LeBaron is a good store for float fishing, sometimes they have good deals on ice fishing stuff but sail is my go to, the star are knowledgeable, they have everything i need and the prices can be more or less, for example, something that cost me 80 bucks at bps cost e 50 at sail, when i walk into there its like a baby in a candy store, you wanna grab everything, lol.

which labron, cause the only brand of steelhead fishing they carry at hwy 7 is blackbird. one type of hook, few different type of floats. that is about it. and not too many leader brands. bang for the buck the blackbird leader is good, but rest of their blackbird terminal tackle are brittle. personally not my choice of brand for steelheading. biggest issue is they don't deal with anglersinternational which carries, drennan, raven, troutbeads and kamasan that are the top brands. lebaron does not even carry daichii that is top steelheading brand for hooks.

mine took that long, i bought the rod for opening day then received it in aug, maybe a little bit over 3months, maybe its just my case i havent heard of others return/warranty storie yet,

Personally I prefer to shop at Sail. You get all the desires that Lebaron and Bass Pro can provide with incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable staff. However that is my opinion.

I've been to LeBaron in Mississauga many times and I find it to be best to go in there knowing exactly what you want. I never find the staff to be overly positive or kind and they are more keen on making a sale then setting you up with what you want. Nevertheless, the prices are comparable to wherever I shop for gear and I can always find something there. Much like any fisherman on this site, I cannot go into a quality sporting goods store without leaving with something for my tackle box.

Would I recommend shopping there? Absolutely. Is it my first choice? No.

Never been to a LeBarons but from reading this post it seems like other shops deserve the business. IMO good customer service and iteraction out weighs saving a buck on my tackle.
I Frequent Rainbow Sports in waterloo, not because they have the biggest selection. Their prices are pretty standard, I go because the staff their are knowledgeable and are always willing to help. Not to mention the owners put me on some of his walleye hot spots aslong as I move if he arrives to the same hole.

I have been purchasing most of my gear from Le Baron and has neved had issues with them. Twice my rod tip broke and they replaced it for me with a new one in the store. Their prices are way better than basspro (have not compared with Sail yet). Also you get additional 10% off if you are member
Only problems are their float fishing selection is limited, and they are closed on Sundays

I shopped there many times(7 and woodbine) infact I got my rapala pin there. Guy was very nice and gave good advice, yet he repeated several times that it was "final sale". I usually never return things, so I don't care about return policies that much.

I don't have a problem on return policy in Lebaron, keep your receipt and everything will be smooth. The staff in fishing knows their stuff. Just take note, each individual knows more about a technique than the other. One guy I know there is really good at bass fishing...and he's got the trophies to prove it. The shorter dude, showed me a 17lb walleye he caught last december 2013. They seem pretty cool. And prices are pretty damn good.

now the cons....
they have limited steelhead stuff and so is the carp fishing. it think they're more focused on hunting.

I've had only good experiences with lebaron, i purchased a float suit on sale as a gift for someone. 2 months later she tells me its the wrong size and they exchanged it for the proper size even without a receipt. so can't really say anything bad about my experiences.

sorry i meant fly fishing not float fishing, I'm talking about the Markham one.

I bought my waders and boots through their online catalog. I ended up returning the waders and boots due to sizing issues-my fault for picking wrong size. They made it very easy to do the exchange and customer service was great. Would not hesitate to make bigger purchases again.
