Guys,
This has been borrowed from another Forum for those of you that hit the Saugeen up & are enjoying the fantastic Rainbow fishing.
During the course of a conversation I mentioned that many of the LHFC and OS members are "support only" members - meaning that due to work and family committments, and/or their geographical location, they simply send in $35 bucks a year to the Club to help support our cause.
I was surprised when he told me that many people thought you had to be very active in the Club to be a member - this is not at all the case.
I personally did nothing at all for the LHFC for 20+ years while I enjoyed catching a ton of the fish they raised. It has only been the last 2 years that I have been able to help out as much as I can.
So long story short, get onto www.lakehuronfishingclub.com - A few clicks on PayPal and presto, you just helped out the Club with a cash injection by becoming a New Member. If you give us your email address we will send you a monthly newsletter as well. The OS site has a PDF to print for a membership too. Help the Clubs out guys Please and Thank you - It costs over $60,000 a year to keep the hatcheries open, and it is 100% funded by anglers, for anglers.
Hopefully we get a couple hundred new members today from some of the Saugeen Regulars.
I changed a few things to leave out the other Forum. I'm hoping to expand the School Salmon Hatchery Program also & that takes about $1,000.00 a School. We now have 10.

I was talking about a Multi level sponsorship last night at the meeting & the Executive will be talking about what our next steps are, I would like to fund raise with a Bronze $250.00, Silver $500.00, Gold $750.00 & Platinum $1,000.00 this would help us with the on going cost of running & feeding the Aquariums & help us get enough cash to buy more, I would add the Sponsors to my Blog & the LHFC Web Page plus there could be something put on or around the Aquarium that it's helping to support, As we grow the Executive & the MNR have to be on board, we have a waiting list of schools already with Walkerton Public, Formosa, Goderich, Ripley & Tara. The Membership seemed to be on board last night but there was no vote, Were are you thinking our Executive meets Next Thursday.
Thanx & Tight Lines SBK

I'm in Toronto. How much does it cost to run one of the tanks in terms of food? I can't imagine the schools have you paying them back for the electricity to run the filters and stuff.

It's not just for the cost of running them like Filter replacement, Food, Chemical ( Cycle & Waste Control) to condition the water & to build a fund to replace anything that wears out but to buy more to get them into more schools, we have a few Companies that are interested in being affiliated with the Program & this would allow them to choose different levels of Sponsorship, I will be looking at other Grants that we can apply for also after we get things hatching & running smoothly, never to early to start looking at expansion down the road. The big thing for expanding beyond our catchment area is having someone in the area to set up the Aquarium & delivering the Eggs to the school, drop in once in a while to check on them & Deliver the Salmon maybe with a class trip to stock them in the Saugeen at Southampton & possibly tour our Port Elgin Salmon Hatchery. Baby steps but looking at Expanding when & were we can.

Why not students run the tanks, have the students set up the aquarium, have the students pick up the eggs and so on?

I'm a little confused, a 20 gallon tank (I think that is the size that you mentioned earlier) costs around 80 bucks, filters and pumps should together cost around 60 dollars, I have no clue abut how much the fish will cost. How does this equal up to 1000$?

Have you thought about independent schools?
