This is a place I know really well and action can be as regular as a Swiss clock if approached accordingly.
Location: Halton / Grand River watershed area
Weather: hot, mostly sunny with northern wind gusts
Water condition: lake, rocky bottom with clear water, slight top-water chop caused by wind gusts towards the shore
Bait: green, brown salty tubes on 1/32nd silver jig, 2" smelt minow immitation
Rod: 6' Super ultra light setup, shimano sienna 1000( awesome small reel )
Rig: Micro Thill float(slip), with a 4# test line, mainline and jig line were both rigged with snap swivels so that I could change the jigs quickly if I needed to.
I had trouble locating the fish in the water column because of excessive sunlight. I started with the jig below a slip micro float at around 4 feet deep. Adjusted the depth below from the float to the jig and found largies at about 20' below the surface. I had some bites in more shallow presentations but the fish were few and far in between.
With the distance correct I walked the shore and pulled in a solid bunch of fish by casting out as far as I could, and walked the jig below the float at the depth. It was a lot of fun seeing the float get pulled in repeatedly
