streamside...they're pretty much the most affordable float rods and very light. they're selling out pretty fast. so if you can grab one. better buy it right away.

if your saving for a RV9 just save a bit more and get a loomis.
which loomis? the glx series start at 580. maybe you are talking about gl2 class. bang for the buck i'd still pick raven over the new loomis.

top end streamside that can compete againt raven is 220 dollars. im8 ring is 200 dollars and reel seat one is 250.

love my RV9 and My RPX everyone dogs on raven but they have a great warranty and they make a quality product. been fishing raven for over 8 yrs. Started with the SST and the IM6 they replaced the rod three times before I upgraded to the SST3 and RV9

Dont buy the cheap streamside. Spend 15/20 bucks more and get the fs model. 100Bucks cant go wrong. And over the counter warranty . I've fished the fl 11'6 ft,17ft, fs13ft and i have a tranq13. I think the tranq is the regular blank with a fancy paint job, great rod Tube and no butt cap. If you mainly fish east id get the fs 11, and the 13 is aaaa great all round rod.

Sidenote- kingpins first rod Was a relabled fs1302 that sold for around 400, same components

It all depends on your comfort level. Streamside is a reliable rod. It's what you call..."best bang for your buck". I started float fishing with a streamside float road I bought for $70 include tax on a promo at al flaherty's...pretty good rod and can't complain. So far no issues on the rod so i don't feel the need to get another one.

the stream side series of rods is amazing, the tranquility is an awesome rod, really light and great backbone, its a bit more than the lower end ones but can compete with the "higher quality brands" such as raven, IMHO.
