Looking for the best "value" landing/wading net!

Hello Ladies and Gents of OFF!

Just wondering what your opinions are on the "best" wading net!

I know companies such as Rising have grown a lot in popularity, I am looking for something small enough I can carry on a retractable or magnet as I wade and use it only when needed!

I have a few different nets currently but am looking to replace it for something better!

I got the rising net and it looks nice but not worth the money I paid. The plastic netting ripped on a 10lb steelhead.

Also I find my net can be difficult for some people to use.

Thanks for all the reccomendations! If you don't mind me going a step further and asking how you guys "carry it"

My current net (as I have many) are too heavy for the "retractables" and they break at the slightest tug when on the magnet (wading in deeper water/bush whacking)

Especially with the colder winter ahead of us, is there a better way/another way you guys carry your nets?

(this is also why I am looking for a newer/lighter net, every where I go has already put away their nets for the season!)

you'll always have that problem with a detachable net. when walking, just carry it. the mesh will hang up on every little twig and branch it can

Thanks @FrequentFlyer; My net has a "telescopic" steel handle, so I was looking at getting a lighter (possibly floating net such as a wood, or the carbon fibre fish pond)

Just unsure if I could justify the 'fancier' $150 net or will $20 net be sufficient enough?

One thing I notice with a lot of these nets is that the basket is not deep!

luckystrike has a nice trout net. wide and flat. $12. I use it for trout & pike, anything with longer body it would work.

That basket on that net is too shallow for big steelhead. If I could find a replacement netting with a deeper bed, I would replace it.

Also Sail carries retractables that can carry a heavier load. I forget the brand but it's in the fly fishing section.

Which Sail may that be? (I was at the Vaughan and Etobicoke location this week, only found the same net as mine in the Vaughan location and none at Etobicoke!)

No...mine looks like this...makes the fish relax and straight...unless of course you catch something longer than 25"

I swapped my 13' float for an 11'6" float rod...I barely use i mostly use my fly gear now. 9' so this short net isn't an issue. I use it for pike as well and my spinning rod is 11ft. no issue as well...take note that this is a shallow net...i had a couple of pike jumped out when I first had this net. I was used to deeper net before. NOw whenever I net a fish, I don't lift them out of the water. I just make sure they stay inside the net.

I know some baskets are "more elastic" and stretch to keep the fish deeper in the basket, If I find the basket is too shallow I would just replace the netting!
