Anyone else think that this year is going to be a late run. With all this cold weather and slow melt, it's really looking like a great season for opener. Some fish have hit the rivers but the main run is still to come. The later it is the longer past opening day the fish stay in the river. It might make for a slow start to the season but I am hoping it extends the season a little longer. Whats does everyone else think?

I think so too. I have been fishing six times over the past five weeks, an not landed one steelie. Seen a few small ones but nothing to brag about. Good luck everyone

Today I went out, Had to wade out into the bay up to my waist. Landed three females and they were tight and chrome. In the river one dark male was caught. with about 15 guys fishing. -15 plus the wind chill makes for a tough few hours in waist deep "Ice Water" But the fish helped

Seems like most of the hookups have been during the week. Went out the past two weekends and didn't hit anything. But I did get a chance to try out new rivers. Still looking forward to my first chrome. May need to take a day off from work. Hah

you're going to take a day off work??? hahahah

I only pretty much fish tiny secondary rivers in the spring for rainbows. I have really high hopes for this years season, especially when i think about how few fish were left in the tiny rivers last year during the opening week of the season. In a few weeks we'll know for sure! YIPPEEE! :D

Yes, I also think opener will be a decent day, a lot better than last year.
The fish are slowly coming up, and like some of you have said, the big run probably hasn't come yet. 1 big rain and they'll all come up. Opener is such a stressful/fun day, fun because the thought of landing a nice rainbow gives me the shivers, but also the thought of shoulder to shoulder fishing and arguements make my turtle run back into its shell. I'm trying to get most of my steelhead fishing in before opener. This morning was my first day out, and I saw about 12 big rainbows jump in the 1 pool I was fishing. No luck for myself in the morning, but I did land a nice 3lber in the evening. Nothing feels better than seeing that float go crazy and setting the hook with the noodle, whaabammm!

Anyways, good luck on your trout missions
I love the trout, god's fish!
