I'm curious if anyone can think of a time we had no snow like this and water levels being so low.

If we don't get much snow the consequences for the following spring and summer could be pretty high if we don't get much rain.

Any thoughts. ??

When the cold air does come, i think we're probably going to get very heavy dumps of snow.

Having said that if it doesnt happen, comtinued low water and high temps are liable to mess up fish populations for sure

We are in a year of El Nino? I believe it is called.
Long term forecasts call for milder than normal temps, but also a lot of snow in Jan and Feb.
If you can believe a weather- person.

Alfie.

Weatherman first predicted a "COLD" winter again, same as February 2015, but have since changed their predictions as they often do in the summer. MY prediction is its going to be a MILD winter, not alot of snow.
In terms of water levels, yes, right now pretty low. I work on the water and can see water levels changing, very low right now. Usually on Lake Ontario will see max high water level end of May. If a very cold weather like this past year, salmon fishing on the lake is going to suck again in 2016.

I was trying to find historical data on water levels for the 1997-98 el nino stuff but couldn't.

Not to worry Paul. Mother nature always has its own plan. I find it more worrisome when we have a late spring. 2014 opener on the Ganny was a slaughter. Fish were still just heading up. The hardest part was finding water where you can make a drift without fouling them they were so thick. But some how the cycle continues.
