A number of years ago I use to make my own lures. Mostly Wooden Crank Baits because I like to do Woodworking.

So. I thought I'd start again with some new ideas I have.

Off to Wal Mart to the Hobby section or whatever they call it. Some of this and some of that. Including some Great Sticky Back "Sprinkle Pads or Tape".

When I got home and Dragged everything out I figured YUK! This stuff has to be Cleaned up and Organized first!

First came my 10 Year Old Plano Tackle Box. Everything Out, Good Cleaning, and a HUMMMM? That "Sprinkle Paper" might look good in there. So I did and had to cut down ALL the Dividers so they didn't stick up to high and prevent Closing the Tackle Box Properly.

Then came the Rods & Reels that I use most often. OH! Ceiling Mounts up out of the way. That'll do it!

Next were the Reels that have just sort of "Sat Around" and get very little, if any use. Including My Favourite, Now Retired "Zebco, Cardinal 4"!! Clean 'Em Up and box them.

Hey! What about your Grandfathers 70/80 or so years old Metal Tackle Box, "Walton Products Inc." "Grip Loc" Those Beautiful Old Lures. AND... 3 Shakespeare OLD Level Wind Reels and 1 Pflueger Reel ??

Don't forget the Rods! One Hexagon Shaped ALL Metal Rod Complete with Carrying Bag "Model C, Whitehall, Made In Galt, Ontario. Also One "All Glass" Rod.

Clean them all up and back on the Shelf. ALL DONE!!

One of these days I might Actually get around to Making Some Lures!!

I've been planning on building some lures, however I to cannot find the time. Post some pics if you do make some lures.

quick get that level wind it's trying to camo itself in the I beam......lol.

Been a while since I build my own cranks. I turned my belt sander upside down and carved the bodies out of mahogany or any other scrap wood. All my lures were made from scratch, now you buy alot of parts and put them together. The hard part was making the plastic lip. Post some pics when you got some done or during the process, we'll compare notes....lol.

For the plastic lips I just take a small piece of plexi glass, cut a slot in the lure and epoxy the lip in the slot.

Yup that's how I did it. I also used to buy the smallest screw eyes and cut a bit of the metal off and close it with pliars. When I went to back then it was Lansing, the guy there told me the screw eyes for lures were made specially small for the lure mfr. Then I'd drill a hole and put epoxy one the threads and screw the screw eyes in with the treble. For larger lures I ran galvanized wire down thru the body of the lure, much stronger that way.

Buzzbaits were easiest to make but now I can't find stainless steel wire. Most places only carry galvanized or brass wire, they are way too soft. Anyone know who sells that?

I also use the wire technique as it is the only one I know of. You could probably order some online.

Blair: I don't have OCD ........ I have CDO in Alphabetical Order. .. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!!!!!!!!

"grubman" ........"quick get that level wind it's trying to camo itself in the I beam......lol".

That's my OLD Penn Peer 209M. The last time I used it was on Charelston Lake LONG BEFORE it was a Provincial Site.

We fished for Lake Trout in about 150/200 feet of water. NO Downriggers then. A Christmas Tree, Weight and Gawd only knows how much line we had to have out to get it down there!! I THINK I used Copper Line???

It's on a "Major" Glass Rod that you had to drive a car over if you wanted to break it.

Thanks for Posting Guys!!

OH! I just did a Pic.
