Making your own slinky weights

I want to make my own slinky weights for drift fishing.
Does anyone here have any experience with that?
I read that you can use a paracord and put beads in it but was wondering if you can replace the beads with something else like small rocks. I'm hesitant to do that cuz I think it'd riP the paracord
Any ideas?

Some people tie rocks in spawn mesh for sinkers. That's certainly being resourceful!
