Maybe have OFF fishing events?

I was thinking maybe we should set up an event of some sort for OFF members. Nothing crazy. Just pick a location, grab the barbecues and fish! I am sure there are people willing to do that!
 
Agreed alwayscatching. More would not be a bad thing.
We did have a good trip to the Saugeen last year in Oct, I believe 20 or so members were there. The weather didn't co-operate, but the fish were there. I think, but am not positive that some of the guys did an ice fishing thing this year too.
Did you have something in mind you can toss out there?
Smaller get togethers happen all the time I am sure, I have met a number of other members for fishing forays and can't say I have had a bad experience. I personally can't really put anything out as an idea because my work takes me out of town at a moments notice all the time. If something is arranged and I am home then I am down for meeting and fishing with the crew.

I would all over that. I could drive a bunch of guys too... Would have to be a big spot though...
 
I was thinking maybe if anyone has connection to making shirts we can do a get together at a close lake of some sort and rent a bunch of cottages or camp sites or something depending on prices and make an event out of it or just do a cool BBQ of some sort on some local area. I am not usually the best at this kind of stuff but I havent seen any posts about it so I figured why not?

Shirts would be cool, don't have a connection though... I looked at making shirts once, it's a lot for a few, so I think we would need a lot of members to get one to make it worth it...

That is what I was thinking, renting cottages or campsites...
 
Its too bad the ice fishing one never came together I was looking forward to it. Another get together would be great!

Everyone should come down to the geen again this year so I don't have to drive 5 hours :grin:
 
Well I know that there is a lot of people from toronto, barrie, burlington, sauga and just the general area here but I think that Rice Lake considering how close it is, would be a great fit for a weekend getaway. Even if some of us are only able to come for the day?
 
Hey! Wait a minute! I know why Always picked Rice! He wants a handshake cause the fish he pulls out of there are huge and likely to win the biggest! Mind you, I've not seen what voodoo other members can pull. :p :lol: :lol:
 
I made those maps for another member ijay. He wanted to get some bass fishing done and what better lake than Rice Lake! As for why, I know it is the closest lake and not that big so you can get a lot of fishing done with smaller boats. You can even kayak/canoe fish in the otanabee!

I am all about sharing and I believe in the people here who are active with this forum. I think we can all do our part to make this sport so much healthier with everything from catch and release and cleaning up after ourselves. I know recently a few of my posts have had pictures with me and kept fish but that is only because one a fish fry/mounting 3 trophy fish to top off my collection. I know we are all adults here and can do our part. Which is why I think we should reward our group with things like a trip or fish day. Some people can share tips on how to fillet their species of fish, tips on what to look for when fishing for certain types of fish, and what to use and how to use certain types of baits. I am all about giving information to fellow anglers. If I believe someone will be responsible with information, I will be more than willing to help.

I would most definatly participate. I refuse to wash my hands. I do plan on disposing of any soap I find!

I would have to plan and budget for a weekend away. Sounds like alot of fun even if we could come out for the day, bbq fish and learn!
Alot of members such as myself have recieved a tremendous amount of repsonse from other mebers, what better way to see this come into fruition? (If thats even a word)
 
Ok here is the deal. If anyone is really serious about this as I am sure we are all adults and have schedules/families/tvs to attend too, I am willing to contact a resort on rice lake and just get an idea of what it will cost and what cottages will be available for a weekend, if not I can get us rates on boats for the day and designate a spot for us on the resort to do a fishing day where we can organize maybe a prize pool for different categories like biggest bass, most fish(although I do not like doing most fish because it means we have to keep them ahah), biggest species? We can come up with different prize ideas. If anyone is interested please send me a PM
