Hey Guys/Gals,

Ok so lets get down to business, Merrit Island in Welland....I hear great things about all types of different fish to catch and some serious action you can get there. To my dismay my first visit was less than stellar, no bites and no interest. Just looking into some insight on maybe some techniques, best fishing times, popular lures that will be hit on and all that. Thanks for any info and tips, always much appreciated.

Thanks again,
RY

I fish off the bridge at Merrit island all the time. Every species of fish swims there from 10lbs sheephead, walleye, pike, muskie, catfish. The best time to go is after dark, walleye and other fish feed close to the surface. The rig I use 20+ braid line(you need strong line to lift the fish up 20ft),with jig head fake minnow, live worm or shrimp and you just jig it up and down.
