For me the biggest question now for pike fishing is whether or not to use a metal wire leader. The pike I have gotten I was not using a leader but the line was very frayed. Ad do leaders take away from te lures action? I am thinking I'm better off not using one. Let me know what you guys think!

I I personally always use metal leaders when fishing for pike. It reassures me that their teeth will not break my line. I prefer the black leaders, but I would have to agree that these can take away some of the action of the lure, so it is best to buy a decent leader with quality swivels. I know that I have also purchased strong 20 or 30 pound fluorocarbon line and have used this while fishing for musky and pike. This helps for presentation purposes, so that the leader does not ruin a natural presentation.

Hmm never used fluoro leader before, does the line get chewed up as much as mono? Even braid got frayed with me

So it sounds like fluoro is more abrasion resistant than mono?
jigging i use 10lb flouro, casting cranks i use 20lb flouro, trolling i use light guage titanium leader. all for walleye applications but looking to prevent bite-offs by pike
